His family moved to Adelaide, Australia in 1991. Since then Adelaide has remained his place of residence. Illustration runs in his family, with his grandfather being a well-renowned Russian illustrator who had worked in editorial, book publishing and advertising fields. However, Paul was a late bloomer, realising his interest and potential in 2006 when he commenced a Bachelor of Visual Communication at the University of South Australia. Following his studies, he travelled to the US and attended the Illustration Academy in Sarasota, Florida. Throughout his studies he has met many amazing people who have helped broaden his views with advice and influence. Paul has experimented and worked with many media. It was not until recently that he realised that the achievement of visual exactness is not his goal. Sometimes an imperfect line is the most beautiful line. The image can come alive with its character. Paul uses the basic media of drawing with pen and ink. His main subject interests lie in people, especially those of pop culture. He also likes drums, tennis and beetroot.
